We've come a long way since our campaign for the State House began. In early March, the Florida Supreme Court approved the proposed State House maps that were submitted as part of the historic, once-a-decade reapportionment process. Over the next few months, I will continue to increase the support we've earned in Davie, Plantation, and Sunrise.
After meeting voters and listening to their concerns and overall disgust with what's happening in Tallahassee, I am often asked, "Are you sure you want to do this?"
Let's face it, it's not easy being a Democrat in the Florida House. Republicans have a veto-proof majority in the House, and the Republican leadership has used its power to hurt working families, women, and our public education system. I can't sit back and watch a handful of politicians continue to trample on our Constitutional rights, ask employees to take more unfair pay cuts, and do nothing to help our struggling mom-and-pop businesses. I share your frustration. For me, it's not a matter of whether I want to do this. The bottom line is that we need good people in Tallahassee. With term limits and redistricting, the face of the Broward Delegation and Florida House will change dramatically in 2012. We need real people who will be straight forward and fair. We need one of us addressing real problems with real solutions. I'm here for you.
