Meet Katie Edwards

Blessed to be born and raised in beautiful Broward County, Katie Edwards has been a resident of Plantation for 22 years. A true West Broward native, Katie's fondest childhood memories include picking strawberries at Batten's Farm, chasing alligators at Flamingo Gardens, figure skating at the Sunrise Ice Skating Rink, and counting cows on Pine Island Road. Although West Broward has grown considerably in the past 30 years, it remains a great place to raise a family and own a business.

The Edwards family roots run deep in Broward. Since 1959, Katie's family has owned and operated Dead Bug Edwards, a small family business in the heart of Broward County. Katie also volunteered at the many community events coordinated by the Greater Plantation Chamber of Commerce where her mom continues to serve as the President.

Locally educated, Katie attended St. Gregory School and St. Thomas Aquinas High School before earning her bachelor's degree in Agricultural Economics from Clemson University. She is currently completing her Juris Doctor degree at Florida International University.

Katie's love of agriculture led her to the Dade County Farm Bureau where she was named Executive Director at the age of 22. For nearly eight years, Katie worked as a tireless advocate for our family farmers and nursery growers. Katie now operates her own consulting business where she continues to help family businesses grow. She volunteers her time at local schools by mentoring youth, giving presentations, and motivating high school seniors. She also assists lawyers in providing pro bono services to the community's homeless and indigent population.

Katie is actively involved in our South Florida community.  She currently serves on the City of Plantation's Planning and Zoning Board.  She is also a member of the Soroptimist International Club of Davie, Old Davie Historical Museum, and Broward County Bar Association (Student Member).  Her volunteer efforts include Lawyers to the Rescue, Broward Healthy Start Coalition, P.A.T.C.H.E.S., Samantha's Purpose, and the Greater Plantation Chamber of Commerce.

Katie resides in Plantation.  She is the proud aunt of nieces Madden and Linden of Davie and Gianna and Valentina of Miami Beach.
